DURA-BASE Mats vs Wood
SAFETY
- No recorded incidents on DURA-BASE® Composite Mats due to slippery conditions.
- DURA-BASE Mats are manufactured without nails which will eliminate employees being punctured through their boots as well as flat tires.
- DURA-BASE Mats act as one continuous part in the field therefore eliminating the possibility of individual boards coming loose and puncturing the underneath of vehicles.
LOGISTICS
- DURA-BASE Mats weigh approximately 1,050 lbs each and can be transported up to 42 per truckload vs. Wood weighing anywhere from 2200 to 2800 pounds allowing for 12-15 mats per load. A location requiring 1500 mats will take 36 truckloads of DURA-BASE vs. 100 truckloads of Wood. If your trucking averages $500.00 per load it would cost you $18,000 to transport DURA-BASE vs. $50,000 for Wood.
ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS
- DURA-BASE Mats are made out of 100% recyclable HDPE.
- Our manufacturing process allows for 100% utilization of the plastic, any scrap material is reintroduced into the process.
- HDPE is a non-absorbent material which allows for decontamination at the end of the project – meaning we can prevent chemicals and other materials from entering the environment on the next project. Wood does not have this ability – if they become contaminated they stay contaminated.
PRICE
- While DURA-BASE Mats list price is higher than Wood when you factor in Preventative Maintenance, repairs, higher trucking costs and limited life span are you really getting a good deal?
